Praise Team Expectations
Because of the complexity and size of the music ministry at Grace, it's important that we limit the number of surprises on Sunday mornings. (e.g. different number or group of people than what was expected.) With that in mind, please note the following expectations:
- Active participation in choir and other major music ministry events is expected. (e.g. Fresh Encounter, Missions Festival, Christmas, Easter, Patriotic Service and additional all-church worship events where we have been asked to lead.)
- Attendance at Wednesday rehearsals is expected in order to sing the following Sunday. Consistent absences will call into question your ability to participate. If you have specific concerns or situations, please contact the music office.
- If you won't be at Wednesday rehearsal or won't be able to sing on a particular Sunday, it is your responsibility to confirm you assigned alternate and to notify the music office before that week's Wednesday rehearsal. Use both emails and phone calls as a means of communicating effectively.
- Please be diligent to follow-up with your alternate and confirm their participation. Do not send out an email or leave a voice mail and just assume the person will sub for you. Communication is critical. There should not be any surprises on Sunday mornings.
- Our music ministry functions best when everyone shows up on time, ready to sing. With that in mind, a brief Wednesday night rehearsal for the praise team will be held at 7:00pm, in the green room (back stage). Afterwards, you may join the choir rehearsal already in progress. Please utilize the web site, www.musicatgrace.com for referencing your music.
- Sound check/rehearsal on Sunday mornings for the praise team is at 7:15am on the platform. (Yep, it's early!) Your promptness is needed, as the rehearsal/sound check schedule is very tight. We will also meet again in the green room (back stage) during the first hour message to do any final preparation and have prayer together.
- In order to make clothing decisions easier for you and to unify the look of the team, we will schedule a dress code on a monthly basis. The color palette will be available on our website. You will need to wear the color for that given month. As a general rule, no jeans, tee shirts, sneakers. The overall style is business casual.
- Men - dress slacks/shoes and nice shirt.
- Women - dress slacks or skirt, dress shoes/boots. Remember that modesty is the best policy. Nothing too tight, too short (above the knee) or revealing. If you have a question, it's usually best to not wear it.
- Remember to check the web site, www.musicatgrace.com, for all information related to schedules, music, dress code, expectations, etc.
These guidelines are meant to bring clarity and to help manage expectations. Remember, we live by grace. We might find that some of the above expectations are simply not realistic or practical and may need to be adjusted. Thanks for understanding and doing your best to be a team player in this fantastic ministry that has been entrusted to us.
