Where Did We Go?

Athi River Ministry

  • Grace Seminary continued with instruction from Pastor Troy on the Characteristics of the Gospel and Sermon Preparation, and George Kenworthy on marriage. The teaching reached new levels of excitement when Pastor Troy broke the glass podium with his fist when making a dramatic point.
  • Today we said goodbye to our friends at Athi River which is always so hard to do. We will miss them!

Huduma Ministry

  • The Children’s team had another great day of ministering to the 700 children of Huduma. It will be a tearful goodbye on Friday for our team.
  • The Carpentry team began their day with a combined devotional with the dressmaking students. Kris Otto, Paul Virts, Michelle Wolter, and the Women’s team joined the devotion which turned into a 90 minute Q & A session of topics ranging from speaking in tongues to evolution.
  • The Medical team arrived today with a courtyard full of people waiting to be seen. It will be a very busy day tomorrow!
  • The Door to Door team broke new ground today evangelizing in the slums of Huduma. Many were encouraged and 111 came to Christ. The team is truly on fire for God.
  • The Crusade featured George Kenworthy with another inspiring message at our first evening crusade at Huduma. While the crowds were light, the harvest was great– 60+ dedicated their lives.
  • Highlighted Ministry:

    Music

If we had to summarize our Music team in one word it would have to be one of the following: Flexible, Tireless, Energetic. The team averaged 3 performances per day in a diverse array of venues from primary schools to factories, to prisons and crusades. They brought a fresh excitement, passion, and energy to each one. Frequent schedule changes and long days could not dampen their spirits or the impact they had on thousands of Kenyans, not to mention their own team. Today Dustin Kelm and the Music team presented their last school performance this morning followed by a presentation at a meat packing factory in the afternoon. The smells of the factory did not dissuade the team from sharing Christ and seeing 2 very enthusiastic workers accept Christ.

Bega Kwa Bega (Shoulder to Shoulder)

It is always hard for our team to transition our time from the Athi River campus to the Huduma campus because we know that while we will be developing great relationships with the Huduma church, we also must say goodbye to our Athi River brothers and sisters. Francis, one of the Music team’s translators put it best when he turned to the team and said with a forceful voice, “Bega Kwa Bega” while pounding his chest. We could not help but see the tear in his eye.

God At Work Through Us: Team Testimonials

    • The Word is contagious! Wednesday Pastor Brian led two Maasai tribesmen to Christ. Yesterday they brought some of their other tribesman to the crusade so that Brian could share with them. It is such a joy and honor to watch God work through us as He reaches out and specifically calls people to Him.
    • “I could really feel the power of The Holy Spirit yesterday. Hundreds of people were waiting for the food distribution to begin at Athi First Baptist church. While we were waiting for the food distribution to begin we asked if we could pray for them. Many were looking for healing. A woman approached me to pray for her 8 month old baby girl. You could hear a deep rattle in the baby’s chest. The woman took her baby to a clinic but the doctors said they could not heal her. The woman said to me that I could heal her. I know that only God can heal so I prayed that he would work through me. I put my hand on the child and by the time I was done praying the baby’s breathing stilled and she fell asleep. God is so amazing.” ~ Katie Schonewill, Door to Door Team
