Ministry Schedule: Where Did We Go?
When do you share the gospel? All the time! Each day our team had opportunities in many venues to share the gospel. When and where did this happen?
- At breakfast!
- Walking to the church in Athi River
- At any moment of “downtime” where we had an opportunity to speak with another person.
- At specific ministry venues: at the crusade where we were with thousands of people both “pre-Christian” and Christian alike at the Athi River crusade
The short answer is the “where” is EVERYWHERE! Every moment of every day we should be looking for opportunities to share the gospel and to serve one another as Christ showed us.
Highlighted Ministry – Evangelism
We are all on the Evangelism team! In 1 Peter 3:15 the Bible says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
We have a number of tools to accomplish sharing the Word while we are here in Kenya:
- Personal testimonies, which we have all practiced and memorized.
- Yellow gospel sheet. This tool is English on one side and Swahili on the other. We have two versions of this tool which are catered to each venue: Huduma and Athi.
- “God’s Word” tract. This tool is a small booklet with English on one side and Swahili on the other.
God at Work in Us: Team Testimonials
“Today we learned a tremendous lesson about gratefulness. Our driver Joseph has had a terrible loss with the death of his wife, leaving him alone to work and provide for a 5 year daughter who lives with his parents. He can only see her once a month. He stated how grateful he was that he had a job. He had a true joy of the Lord perspective. He was clearly someone who emanates being content in all things. (Philippians 4:12) We are excited to invite him to drive us to church and participate in the worship with us.”
~Dara Mann & Brenda Sandberg, Children’s Ministry
“Today we had the opportunity to see our fearless leader in action! Never one to wait for an event or reason to share, Dave’s boldness at dinner tonight in asking our server about his view of eternity turned into a great opportunity to witness to him. Michael appears to have an understanding of God and has been witnessed to several times. He has heard the gospel, but has not made the decision to accept the Lord. Our entire team prayed for Michael and several team members continued the conversation. Please continue to pray for Michael to make the decision. He is very close!”
~Dan Patterson, Transportation Director
As we begin our Kenya mission we want to recognize our dear brother Dick Olson, whose thoughtful and detailed planning made it possible for us to be so well prepared. We wish Dick was here with us but the doctors recommended him to not travel. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. We are also so thankful for God’s provision of Dan Patterson who jumped into the deep end of the transportation logistics pool 5 days before leaving for Kenya. He is a marvelous blessing to our team. Thank you Dick and Dan for your faithful and tireless service to our Lord and our team.
