Pastor Troy Dobbs Accepts Call to Become Senior Pastor of Grace Church

On Monday, June 23, the members of Grace Church called Pastor Troy Dobbs of Merritt Island, Florida, to become their senior pastor. Upon receiving the membership’s 99% affirming vote, Pastor Troy immediately accepted the call, and gave all praise and glory to the Lord for the opportunity to serve Him and the congregation in this leadership position.
Pastor Dobbs is currently the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, Florida. The commissioning services for Pastor Dobbs are scheduled for Sunday, August 10 at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
“I am so blessed and honored to accept God’s call in coming to Grace Church,” said Pastor Dobbs. “I look forward to continuing Grace’s long tradition of boldly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Twin Cities and the world.”
Pastor Dobbs fills the position left by Dr. Daniel Henderson, who was senior pastor at Grace from February 2004 to May 2007. Since that time a series of interim preaching pastors have assumed the Sunday preaching responsibilities while church leadership conducted a nationwide search for Dr. Henderson’s replacement.
Pastor Dobbs earned an undergraduate degree from Ball State University (BS Criminology), a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and is a Doctor of Ministry candidate from Denver Seminary in Expository Preaching and Leadership (anticipating graduation in May 2009). He has been married 14 years to his wife, Cheri, and together they have three children ages 6 to 10 years.
“By bathing our yearlong pastoral search process in prayer, we felt God’s unmistakable hand in leading us to call Pastor Troy to shepherd our congregation,” said Brian Vaughan, pastor of music and worship at Grace and interim executive pastor. “Troy is a relational pastor whose preaching connects with people on a deep and intimate level. We feel blessed that the Lord has brought him to us.”
Pastor Dobbs will begin his new position on Sunday, August 10, during two special commissioning services at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. All are invited to attend.
