Sunday mornings
Last Day of Sunday Barnabas Classes for the school-year: May 18, 2008

On Sunday mornings during the school year, we support families affected by disability by providing a loving and welcoming setting for their child so that parents can comfortably attend worship. Children can receive one-to-one help in the mainstream Sunday School, participate in contained classrooms which include a reverse mainstreaming program, or use a combination of both approaches.

Sunday morning classroom options:

Barnabas Friend Ministry
9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The Barnabas Friend Ministry helps meet the spiritual needs of children and students with disabilities through one-to-one friendships in the Sunday School and Junior High Ministries. In these ministries, Barnabas Friends facilitate the inclusion of the special-needs child/student in the classroom. Each one, as needed, is provided a Barnabas Friend* who ministers one-to-one by helping the child/student make friends and learn about Jesus through the activities and teaching.

Barnabas Children's Class
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Room M022 (Garden level)
The Barnabas Friendship Class is a special-needs Sunday School class serving children whose needs are not met in the regular Sunday School setting. In addition to singing and prayer time, each child is provided a Barnabas Friend* who helps with the Bible lesson and related activities using a special education curriculum. All of this takes place in a nurturing atmosphere where each individual is loved and valued as a precious child of God.

Barnabas Teen Class
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Room M025 (Garden level)
For developmentally and cognitively delayed teens.

Barnabas Adult Class
10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Room M215 (Terrace level above Door #4)
For developmentally and cognitively delayed adults.

Barnabas classrooms will not meet during the summer months. The last class will be Sunday, May 18th. All Barnabas classes will resume Sunday, September 7th.

* Barnabas Friend Participation dependent upon the availability of volunteers.
